Early Stage of a Sit and Go Holdem Tournaments

Basically, the early stage is when you start with the stack size of the other players and the blinds are relatively low. Sit and Go tournaments have a lot of repetition in terms of the game play. The early stage lasts until there are only 6 or 7 players in the table. In this stage, you should be very selective with your hands and you should not push too hard with any hand you may have because the result in losing this stack in the race to the top three is not worth it as everyone else around will be playing with much tighter hands.

When the blinds go up and the play becomes a bit more serious, you can loosen up a bit and play more hands but you should still be selective and only play when you have a premium hand.

Middle Stage of a Sit and Go Holdem Tournaments

The middle stage lasts from the time 6 players left until there are only 4 players left. During this time, you should be much more aggressive and take down as many blinds and pots as you can. You should be taking pots down in late position or on the button as possible. If you limped in and missed, you should play around and try to win your blinds back or if you are in late position and no one has raised in front of you, you can try stealing the blinds back.

Late Stage of a Sit and Go Holdem Tournaments

The late stage is best described as the bubble period. During this time the game gets tighter and the players are being more selective with their hands. Many will even fold anything and everything just to make it into the money and the final table. For reasons unknown, during the late stage, players have a lot of chips and are very scared about losing them.

During the late stage, you should play aggressively and take down those blinds and pots. Don’t call with any hand just because you have a chip stack. Be aggressive and play with a chip stack of 30BBs or more whenever possible. When you have a premium hand and it is folded to you, you should push all-in.

The reason for this is because, during the late stage, most players will be playing even more tight than the early stage. Because of this, you can use a loose-aggressive play style against them. Since so many players will be playing tight during the later stages, when you have a premium hand, you can win a lot of chips with a raise.

The reason for playing tight during the later stages is because the blinds coming into the QQdewa. Usually around the bubble to the money positions, most players at your table will play tight. This is to their benefit. They don’t want to get knocked out right before they make it to the money. It is also a lot easier to beat those who are playing tight during the later stages because you can steal blinds.

Playing aggressively at the later stages will cause most of the players to work to get into the money. It won’t be worth it for most to try and play conservative because it will take so much of their chips. It is best to start out as a loose-aggressive poker player and later develop into playing a tight-aggressive style. During the first few rounds, you can play a loose-aggressive style and take down many blinds while building your stack. As the game goes on, you must pick your spots to be more tight or play aggressive. Playing aggressive at this stage will drive out most of the players except for those who like to play a wild style, playing their favorite poker style.
